TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS
Berrow Under 14's arrived at the Rhode Lane Wanderers tournament to find they faced 10 other opponents in 10 minuet matches making for along afternoon. Making a quick start Berrow dispatched their first two opponents with ease in high scoring games putting 5 names on the score sheet.Held to a draw in the 3rd fixture against Westfield from the Radstock area, who, later went on to become Berrow’s toughest opponents. The boys then went on to finish the group stages unbeaten having not conceded a single goal. Finishing top of the group Berrow took on the fourth placed team (Wells City beaten 1-0 in the group stages) in the semi's ,playing the stronger football for long periods they couldn't find the net in normal time needing penalties to split the two teams. The final was set Berrow v Westfield. Both teams showed signs of fatigue after having played 100 minuets of football through the afternoon. Berrow having not conceded throughout the group stages and semi were keen to
finish with a clean sheet and showed defensive brilliance to hold
Westfield's advances. The team were consistent in their attacks at the visitors goal, although after a number of opportunities from Berrow forwards the match finished goalless. Man of the tournament Brandon O'Reilly made a great penalty save in the Berrow goal to claim the victory for the team after a superb performance on a very long hot afternoon. Stuart Pearce would of been proud of Berrow's penalty takers as every spot kick found the target. In the squad Brandon, Will, Tom, Sam, Jordan, Jacob, Joe,Sam and Simon.
